Prayer Ministry

Prayer provides the foundation for the life and ministry of Grace Lutheran. We have several ways in which people in the congregation bring joys and sorrows before God in prayer.

Prayer Chains

Grace has both a phone prayer chain and an email prayer chain. Specific prayer requests are forwarded to the prayer chains by the coordinators — Judy Eide (334- 2700) and Sharon Dierks (271-0359). Call either one to make a prayer request. Call Judy to be added to the phone chain or Sharon to be added to the email chain.

Chapel Prayers

Each Sunday someone is in the prayer chapel to pray for the events and activities of the week, for those on the prayer list, and for special prayer requests. If you are interested in being a chapel Prayer talk to Pastor Siri.

Weekly Prayer List

Grace maintains a weekly prayer list which includes those who are shut in or live in care facilities and those who have been hospitalized or who are recovering from surgery. It also includes those who are celebrating special events or mourning the loss of loved ones. The prayer list is placed on the information table each week so those who feel called to pray for people at home may pick one up. To place a request on the“yellow” prayer list, call the office or talk to Rita Blake, Parish Nurse or Pastor Siri.

Prayer Shawls

are available in a basket on the table in the narthex. If you know someone you would like to “wrap” in prayer, please take one to give to that person. If you would like to make prayer shawls, knitting or crocheting patterns are available from Rita Blake.

Pastoral Prayer

Each week Pastor Siri prays for one of the shepherd groups as well lifting up each person and family to ask God to bless them. The list is published in the monthly newsletter so that others, too, may pray for these families.

Prayer Garden

The Prayer Garden surrounds the front of the church and provides a quiet place for people to enjoy God’s creation and meditate. If you are interested in helping to tend the garden, talk to Pastor Siri or Joyce Cunningham.

Women of Grace Prayer Partners

The Women of Grace arrange prayer partners for those women who wish to have one. Names are drawn in early December. Prayer partners commit to praying each day and recognize their partners on birthdays and anniversaries.

Shepherding Ministry

Each person in the congregation is part of a Shepherding Group which are generally formed geographically. Each group has a shepherd who commits to praying for his/her “flock” regularly and who makes a caring contact when a person or family experiences a joy or a sorrow in their lives. In this way each member of the congregation is prayed for regularly.
